Scientific interest: For more than 400 million years, the partnership between plant and fungus has become the most prevalent mutualism in global ecosystems. In this symbiotic relationship fungal partner provides nutrients [e.g. phosphorus (P)] to plants and in return take up carbon supply from plants. But the status of mutualism among the symbiotic partners and the molecular mechanism involved in it is still mysterious to us. To accomplish our study, we are using AMF like root endophytic fungus Piriformospora indica in colonization with the plant. We believe that in a stabilized relationship among two partners there must be a co-operation but this study could help us to know whether the partners are reliable or deceiver to each other.
