Scientific interest: My research focuses on the biochemical and biophysical characteristics of Serendipita indica's high-affinity iron transporter, crucial for enhancing iron uptake in host plants. We aim to decipher the intricate processes involved in iron assimilation and utilization within the plant-fungus symbiotic relationship. Through biochemical assays and biophysical analyses, we are interested to elucidate the transporter's substrate specificity, kinetics, and structural features, shedding light on its role in iron acquisition and distribution. This deeper understanding promises insights into optimizing plant-fungus interactions for improved nutrient uptake, potentially revolutionizing agricultural practices for enhanced crop productivity and sustainability.
