Scientific interest: Microbial infections pose a growing global health concern. Antibiotics, designed to combat such infections by killing or suppressing microbial activity, were pioneered with Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin from the fungus Penicillium notatum. However, the misuse and overuse of antibiotics have led to microbial resistance, prompting the need for alternative approaches. To address antibiotic resistance, my focus is on developing inhibitors as alternatives to traditional antibiotics.
